Obsession Fishing Safari Mothership Barramundi Safari is for the truly Barramundi orientated angler. This safari is conducted only during the months of March and April , which coincides with the ‘Run Off’ period. After the wet season monsoons have finished, the surplus of fresh water is running off the wetlands into the Territory’s major river systems. With the huge amount of water, is an abundance of food and the hungry Barra, in feeding mode, concentrate at small feeder creeks. This is when cricket scores of Barra can be caught casting lures or flies into the feeder creeks; it’s also home of the huge saltwater Barra and plenty of them during this part of the year.

During the run off the mothership will be based at the mouth of Shady Camp on the mighty Mary river system. This will cut out loads off traveling time and make unfished rivers like easily assessable. We’ll also fish our old favourites Love & Tommycut creeks. Fish species you will catch include Barramundi,Jewfish,Threadfin & Blue Salmon,Goldern Snapper & Cod.

The mother ship is a 1999 built 74 foot Allan Fisher wave breaker Cat that is extremely well equipped with four well-appointed double and triple cabins, all with sea views, a huge upper deck entertainment, BBQ and dining, five levels from underwater fish observatory to the game tower, including three decks, lounge and dining, personalised air-conditioning in every room, all latest equipment including camera, video and computer, SAT phone and navigation.
